Product information

What is JLM Diesel Emission Reduction Treatment?

JLM Diesel Emission Reduction Treatment is a powerful, professional-grade additive designed to clean the entire diesel fuel and exhaust system, including fuel injectors, combustion chambers, and the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). It contains a unique blend of advanced cleaning agents and a cetane booster to improve combustion, and a DPF regeneration additive that helps remove soot more effectively.

Why use emission reduction treatment on diesel vehicles?

Ideal for urban drivers and low-mileage diesel engines

Short journeys and stop-start driving can cause carbon buildup in diesel engines and prevent proper DPF regeneration. This treatment is specially formulated to lower the temperature at which carbon burns off, making it ideal for urban-cycle vehicles, low-mileage drivers, and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Regular use helps prevent costly repairs and extends engine life.

Reduce diesel emissions and avoid MOT failure

One of the most common reasons for MOT failure in diesel cars is excessive emissions caused by dirty fuel systems and clogged DPFs. JLM Diesel Emission Reduction Treatment quickly tackles the root cause by:

  • Cleaning fuel injectors and combustion chambers
  • Aiding complete fuel combustion
  • Reducing soot buildup in the DPF
  • Lowering harmful emissions
  • Supporting a pass of the MOT emission test results

In many cases, just one bottle is enough to bring emissions back within legal limits, avoiding the need for expensive diagnostics or component replacement.

How to use JLM Diesel Emission Reduction Treatment

  • Suitable for: All diesel engines, especially those with DPFs
  • Dosage: One bottle treats 40–60 litres of diesel
  • Recommended use: Every 3,000 miles or before MOT
  • Instructions:
    1. Add the contents of one bottle to the diesel tank before refuelling.
    2. For fast results, use on a partially filled tank (20–30L) and drive at elevated RPM (2,000–3,000) for at least 20–30 minutes.
    3. For regular maintenance, use one bottle every 3,000 miles.

Key benefits of Diesel Emission Reduction Treatment

  • Helps pass the MOT emissions test
  • Regenerates DPF and reduces soot buildup
  • Improves fuel efficiency and restores performance
  • Ideal for urban and low-mileage driving
  • Prevents expensive repairs related to emissions systems

Common FAQs about diesel emission reduction

My diesel car failed the MOT on emissions test, what should I do?

If your diesel car failed the MOT on emissions, it’s usually due to excessive soot, unburned fuel, or a clogged Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Fortunately, this can often be resolved without costly repairs by using JLM additives such as JLM Diesel Emissions Treatment or JLM DPF Cleaner.

Once treated, rebook the MOT test. Many vehicles pass on the second try after using a proper cleaner and correcting any minor issues. To avoid future MOT failures, use a diesel fuel system cleaner regularly and drive at higher speeds occasionally to help keep your DPF clear.

Frequently
asked
questions

These are the most common questions we get from a potential distributor.

Do any of the JLM additives help the performance of the high pressure diesel fuel pump?

J02330 Rapid is perfect for pump and injectors!

Is it OK to use the extreme and the DPF cleaner together. ?

No, this will not have a positive effect. In fact it may cause an adverse effect. And also the risk of overdosing! Never combine fuel additives

Will BluBoost dissolve existing crystal infestation or is it more like a preventative product?

JLM’s BluBoost additive cleans and prevents crystal formation in the AdBlue dosing system. It also conditions the AdBlue fluid for a longer time to ensure proper working of the AdBlue and SCR system. This helps prevent performance loss and the often-subsequent expensive repairs. It also reduces foaming at low temperatures

Is the JLM Engine Oil Flush safe for use with wet belt engines?

Our JLM OIL FLUSH is safe to use with ‘wet belts’ (TBIO). This is mainly because we use non solvent and premium pack of oil cleaning additives.

Does the Petrol Emissions Reduction Treatment also clean the catalytic convertor?

The catalytic converter is not a filter, it functions by converting harmful emission gases into less harmful gases. The filter can become contaminated if for example there has been an oil leak, and when this happens the filter needs to be replaced. There is no additive or chemical that will remove physical contamination from a catalytic.
