JLM’s Injector and Spark Plug Loosener is especially useful for freeing seized delicate parts. It is strong enough to break apart the bond between two components but is sufficiently gentle to reduce the chance of later damage.

How to loosen a stuck spark plug or injector with JLM
Avoid using force
When dealing with seized spark plugs or injectors, using brute force can lead to expensive damage. Whilst breaking a stud, by attempting to unscrew a heavily corroded nut, is not always a catastrophe, the cost and effort involved in extracting a snapped spark plug, fuel injector, or glow plug can be considerable.
For a variety of reasons, these components’ threads and those of the cylinder-head can fuse together. The result is a powerful bond that is inaccessible. Rather than using physical force to separate them, JLM Lubricants offers its chemical expertise as a solution.
JLM Injector and Spark Plug Loosener: Your chemical solution
If you’re wondering how to loosen a stuck spark plug or injector safely, JLM’s Injector and Spark Plug Loosener offers a smart, chemical-based solution that eliminates the need for excessive force.
This advanced injector loosener works in two ways:
- Rapid chilling to -40°C causes micro-cracks that break the fused surfaces apart.
- Incorporates PTFE-enhanced lubrication to minimise friction during removal to reduce stress on the stuck component.
In addition, this JLM product features:
- A powerful corrosion inhibitor to protect metal surfaces
- An acid- and silicone-free formula safe for engine components
- An easy-to-use aerosol with a precision nozzle for targeted application
How to use JLM Injector and Spark Plug Loosener
- Prep the area: Clean thoroughly and remove corrosion flakes with a wire brush. Disconnect wires if safe to do so.
- Shake the can: Shake the 400ml aerosol for at least two minutes before use.
- Apply the spray: Aim the nozzle directly at the stuck spark plug or injector. The immediate chilling will be visible. Do not touch the area due to risk of frostbite.
- Wait: Let the product work for a short period to break the corrosion bond.
- Break the seal: Use the correct tool to gently twist the part clockwise and counterclockwise to further reduce thread resistance. Repeat application if needed.
- Post-removal care: Clean the threads before refitting the component. JLM’s Injector and Spark Plug Loosener also leaves an anti-corrosion film behind, protecting the exposed threads from oxidation, until the part is replaced.
While the product significantly reduces the risk of damage, avoid applying excessive torque during removal. Use any pullers with care.
